The Cheung Kong Centre for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution
In early 2004, the Law School of Shantou University established its teaching program in arbitration, mediation and negotiation. And in late 2004, the Law School established the Cheung Kong Centre for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (CKND). The mission of CKND is to promote understanding and use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and negotiation skills and to bring together professionals, business people, scholars and the public and private sector participants to exchange views and to create discourse in these areas.
CKND is committed to the following goals:
- To increase awareness and understanding of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and negotiation skills to resolve disputes, solve problems and build consensus
- To develop the theory and promote the effective practice of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and negotiation skills through research, education and training, and
- To encourage multi-disciplinary collaboration in research, teaching and practice in these areas across different sectors, cultures and communities
